PART 2. Describe an ambition that you haven’t achieved
You should say:
- What it is
- Why you haven’t achieved it
- What you are doing about it now
And how you feel about it
One of my biggest ambitions that I haven’t achieved yet is traveling around Europe for at least a month. I have always been fascinated by European history, architecture, and culture, so I’ve dreamed of visiting countries like France, Italy, Spain, and Germany. I want to explore famous landmarks such as the Eiffel Tower, the Colosseum, and the Alhambra, as well as experience local cuisines and different lifestyles.
However, I haven’t been able to achieve this goal yet due to financial and time constraints. Traveling to multiple countries in Europe requires a significant amount of money, and I have been focusing on other financial priorities such as saving for my future and supporting my family. Additionally, my work schedule is quite demanding, making it difficult to take a long break for such a trip.
Despite these challenges, I am actively working towards this goal. I have been saving money step by step, researching cost-effective ways to travel, and planning an itinerary that balances both adventure and affordability. I’m also learning basic phrases in French and Italian to make my future trip more immersive and enjoyable.
I feel a mix of excitement and impatience about this goal. On one hand, I am eager to make it happen as soon as possible because I know it will be an unforgettable experience. On the other hand, I understand that it requires careful planning and financial preparation, so I am trying to stay patient and focused. Hopefully, in the next few years, I will be able to turn this dream into reality.

FOLLOW-UP QUESTIONS
Would you rather achieve one big ambition in life or many small ones? Why?
Personally, I would rather achieve many small ambitions rather than one big ambition because it provides a continuous sense of fulfillment and keeps me motivated throughout life. One reason for this is that achieving multiple small ambitions gives me a sense of continuous progress. Each time I reach a small goal, I feel accomplished and encouraged to move forward. By achieving multiple small goals, I can adapt to different situations and explore new opportunities. In conclusion, I firmly believe that achieving many small ambitions is more rewarding because it keeps me motivated, allows me to adapt, and provides a variety of experiences.

1. What ambitions do children usually have?
Children’s ambitions are often shaped by their surroundings, interests, and personal experiences. At a young age, they are easily influenced by what they see in books, cartoons, or the people around them, which is why many dream of becoming doctors or astronauts. As they grow older, their aspirations tend to evolve based on their exposure to new opportunities and a better understanding of their own strengths. Some may pursue creative fields, while others develop a passion for science or technology. Ultimately, childhood ambitions are quite fluid and often change as children gain more real-world experience.

It’s important to recognize highly ambitious people at work because they often play a key role in driving progress and innovation. Their determination and strong work ethic can inspire those around them, fostering a more dynamic and motivated environment. For instance, in competitive industries like technology, ambitious employees constantly push boundaries by developing new products and improving existing systems, as seen in the case of Steve Jobs, whose vision transformed the industry. However, while ambition is generally a positive trait, it’s essential to strike a balance, as excessive ambition can sometimes lead to unnecessary pressure and workplace tension.

3. Why don’t some people have dreams?
There are several reasons why some individuals may not have dreams or long-term aspirations. First, due to a lack of time and opportunities, children often fail to explore their passions and abilities, which can lead them to feel as if they are missing their goals. In addition, societal and familial pressure to secure a stable career frequently hinders many young individuals from pursuing their true aspirations, as they may feel obligated to prioritize financial stability over personal dreams. Furthermore, persistent financial and health struggles may force individuals to focus on immediate needs, causing them to neglect their long-term ambitions. As a result, these factors can limit their ability to set and achieve meaningful goals.

4. How do people balance work and life?
Balancing work and life can be challenging, especially in today’s fast-paced world. Many people achieve this balance by setting clear priorities, managing their time effectively, and maintaining boundaries between work and personal life. For example, some individuals set specific work hours and avoid bringing work home, while others engage in hobbies or exercise to relieve stress. Additionally, having a supportive work environment and a flexible schedule can also help people maintain a healthy balance between their professional and personal responsibilities.
