Đề 1: Compare the town of Brindell and local areas in 1800, 1900 and 2000. Summarize the information by selecting and reporting the main features, and make comparisons where relevant.

The provided maps illustrate how Brindell and its surroundings changed over a period of 200 years. 

Overall, it is clear that the southeastern part of the region experienced significant transformations, with the most noticeable change being the expansion of residential zones and the emergence of industrial facilities. 

In 1800, the region was predominantly rural. Farmland for crops occupied the northwest, while land for raising animals was located in the southeast. A woodland area covered the northeast, and Brindell was the sole settlement. By 1900, major changes had taken place, especially in the southeast. The land previously used for animals was converted into a workers’ village, and an industrial zone was established nearby. Additionally, a new settlement named Bun Hill appeared near the center.

Between 1900 and 2000, the area saw further development. Specifically, Bun Hill expanded and incorporated a park, partly replacing the woodland. Both the workers’ village and the industrial zone retained their original positions but increased in size. In contrast, Brindell village decreased in size. Despite all these changes, the crop farmland in the northwest remained unchanged throughout the two centuries.

The provided maps illustrate the development of a school between 1985 and the present day.

Overall, it is clear that the central and southern parts of the school have witnessed significant developments, with the most noticeable change being the construction of additional classroom buildings and modern facilities such as a pool and fitness centre.

In 1985, the school had a relatively simple layout, consisting of an office, a library, a classroom block, and a two-storey classroom building, with a large area allocated for playing fields. Besides, there were two separate car parks, with the large one centrally situated at the top of the map and the small one near the library.

By contrast, in the current layout, the library has been replaced with a Learning Resources Centre and a Computer Room. Additionally, the classroom block has been expanded to three storeys, and two more classroom buildings have been constructed, reflecting the increase in student population from 1,500 to 2,300. Furthermore, a fitness centre and swimming pool have also been added in the southwest corner, leading to a reduction in the size of the playing fields. Moreover, the small car park has been removed, while the layout of the remaining parking area has been redesigned for better flow.
