PART 2. Describe a person who is good at making things by hand (toys, furniture, ...)

You should say:

• Who this person is

• What he/she makes

• How do you feel

• And explain why that person is good at making things by hand

Sample Answer:

Regarding a person who excels in creating several handmade items, I would like to praise my aunt for her flourishing career as a seamstress.

She is the owner of a large fashion store that contains loads of workers. Every time I visit her store, I am always overwhelmed with the stunning colors and large quantity of fabrics. Until now, my aunt has had over 25 years of experience designing women’s clothes, including shirts, dresses, and even handbags with colorful and delicate patterns. 

She is extremely meticulous and patient in every step, from choosing materials to sending final products to customers. What makes her completely outstanding is her innate ability to make unique and trendy outfits for all ages. Besides, each pattern embroidered by hand is what sets her clothes apart from others.

She is an incredible woman with an inspiring story of overcoming difficulties. At first, her career path was tough because of her parents’ disagreement. Besides, attracting customers without much experience was challenging. Nevertheless, after all, with passion and hard work, she could see the light at the end of the tunnel. Thanks to the Internet, she successfully expanded her business by connecting with women having interests in fashion. Starting with uploading photos on social media, she then reached potential consumers through shopping apps. Gradually, there are more and more people choosing her clothes for their special events, such as birthdays or ceremonies. 

To me, she is such an admirable person for young people who plan to make a living from pursuing their hobbies. She is truly a living example that we can achieve life goals as long as we never give up and have belief in ourselves.

1. Do you think handmade is a good thing ?

Absolutely yes ! Handicraft is an exceptional activity that allows individuals to express their creativity as well as passions. Unlike mass-produced objects, the exquisite and distinctive details of handmade items convey the artisans’ efforts and dedication. In addition, patience and carefulness required in the crafting process are also useful for study and work, helping people enhance productivity.

Well, totally yes. It is true that in today's era of technological development, many children are easily attracted to video games and the internet. However, I suppose that there are still plenty of little boys and girls, no matter how active they usually are, once they are introduced to novel activities such as assembling LEGO sets or sewing dresses for dolls, they become deeply engaged and enjoyable.

3. Is traditional craftsmanship important to the country’s industry ?

Undoubtedly, craftsmanship plays a prominent role in the national industry. Firstly, handicrafts reflect the cultural heritage that needs to be preserved and transmitted across generations, such as ceramics and statues with ancient patterns. Furthermore, handmade items sold as souvenirs at tourist attractions contribute to the country’s development by enabling local residents to increase their financial resources and access a wider range of career opportunities.

4. What kinds of handmade things did you make as a child ?

There were even times when I attempted to build a dollhouse out of cardboard, adorned with crayons and ribbons. To me, each creation evokes a profound sense of pride and unforgettable memories.

As far as I'm concerned, tourist attractions greatly benefit from goods made by hand. Additionally, showcasing handicrafts in places where tourists gather is an excellent strategy for promoting the image of a beautiful country, attracting more visitors and fostering economic growth.
