PART 1.

1. Do you often feel bored ? (Why/ Why not ?)

No, I don’t feel bored very often these days. In fact, I would say it happens once in a blue moon, mainly because I’m always up to my ears with studies and assignments. There’s rarely a dull moment, especially with everything I have to juggle. When I do have free time, I try to make the most of it by doing something productive or enjoyable.

  • once in a blue moon (idiom): hiếm khi
  • up to my ears (idiom): bận rộn, ngập đầu trong công việc
  • dull (ADJ): buồn chán, tẻ nhạt
  • juggle (V): xoay sở, cân bằng nhiều việc
  • make the most of (phrase): tận dụng, khai thác triệt để

2. Did you ever find school boring, when you were a child ? (Why/ Why not ?)

Yes, to be honest, I often found school tedious when I was a child. One of the main reasons was that I didn’t like sitting still for long periods—I preferred doing something active rather than just listening to the teacher. On top of that, some of the lessons were too theoretical or repetitive, making it harder for me to stay engaged.

  • tedious = dull (ADJ): buồn chán, tẻ nhạt
  • theoretical (ADJ): mang tính lý thuyết
  • repetitive (ADJ): lặp đi lặp lại
  • stay engaged (phrase): duy trì sự hứng thú

3. What sort of things do you find most boring now ? (Why/ Why not ?)

Off the top of my head, there are quite a few things that bore me, such as waiting for someone or sitting through long speeches. Moreover, I easily get bored with a repetitive daily routine that lacks variety or excitement. All in all, anything monotonous tends to make me lose interest quickly.

  • off the top of my head (idiom): ngay lập tức, không cần suy nghĩ nhiều
  • get bored with = lose interest (phrase): nhàm chán, mất hứng thú
  • monotonous = dull = tedious (ADJ): buồn chán, tẻ nhạt

4. What do you do to stop yourself feeling bored ? (Why/ Why not ?)

I would say that keeping myself occupied with different activities helps me overcome boredom. For example, reading books is one of the best ways to escape boredom and immerse myself in different worlds. Alternatively, I enjoy recreating dishes I’ve seen online or experimenting with new recipes. Ultimately, I love hanging out with my friends, grabbing a coffee, and having a chat—it’s always a great way to lift my mood and stay engaged.

  • occupied with (phrase): bận rộn với việc gì
  • boredom (N): sự buồn chán
  • immerse (V): đắm chìm, hòa mình vào
  • lift my mood (phrase): cải thiện tâm trạng
